Choosing the right front wing can feel overwhelming, but if we focus solely on our new One-Lock Foil System, the decision becomes much clearer. Below, we break it down based on your riding style. (All numbers represent Surface Area in cm².)
One-Lock Front Wings
- We offer 11 front wings across three series:
- Kite Series – Designed for kite foiling
- Ease Series – Beginner-friendly, stable, and forgiving
- Glide Series – Higher-performance wings for efficiency, carving, and
speed
Kite Foilers
If you're into kite foiling, stick to the Kite Series, which offers three sizes:
- 1255 – Best for beginners learning to ride (check out our Kite
Quickstart Package) - 855 – Ideal for intermediates who can foot switch and gybe
- 755 – The most advanced option (and my personal favorite), but also
the most challenging due to its low stall speed
Wake, Wing, Surf, or Downwind Foiling: Choose from the Ease or
Glide Series
For wake, wing, surf, dock start, or downwind foiling, the Ease and Glide
Series offer eight front wing options to match your skill level.
-
Ease Series (Beginner-Friendly)
- Four wings designed for stability and easy progression:
1250, 1550, 1850, 2250
- Four wings designed for stability and easy progression:
-
Glide Series (For Intermediate & Advanced Riders)
- Four higher-performance wings designed for efficiency and speed: 725, 925, 1125, 1325
Choosing a Front Wing for Wake Foiling
- Beginner (Ease Series): 1250 is the go-to, working for most riders
behind most boats (check out our Wake QuickStart Package) - Larger riders >195 lbs (Ease Series): 1550 provides better
support and low-speed lift - Intermediate & Advanced (Glide Series):
- 925 – Ideal for riders under 185 lbs
- 1125 – Best for riders over 185 lbs
- 725 – A high-performance option for more advanced or smaller
riders (<140 lbs) behind a proper wake surf boat
Choosing a Front Wing for Wing Foiling
Wing foiling requires a broader range of options due to varying wind
speeds and riding styles.
-
Beginners (Ease Series)
- 1250 – Ideal for riders under 160 lbs learning in higher winds
- 1550 – Best for 160 lbs and under in lower winds, or 160-185
lbs in higher winds - 1850 – Best for 160-185 lbs in normal conditions or heavier riders in
higher winds. (Check out our Wing Quickstart Package) - 2250 – Designed for riders over 186 lbs needing extra lift
-
Intermediate & Advanced (Glide Series)
- 725 – For smaller riders who can pump onto foil quickly to avoid the
higher stall speed - 925 – The most versatile option, balancing low-speed lift with top-
end speed - 1125 – Great for progressing riders looking for high glide efficiency
- 1325 – The light wind weapon, perfect for staying on foil through
lulls
- 725 – For smaller riders who can pump onto foil quickly to avoid the
Choosing a Front Wing for Dock Starts
For those running and jumping off the dock, here are your best options:
- Ease 1850 – Best for the average beginner
- Ease 2250 – Best for larger beginner riders
- Glide 1325 – Best for intermediate dock starters
- Glide 1125 – Best for intermediate-advanced dock starters
Choosing a Front Wing for SUP & Surf Foiling
Since glide is critical for SUP and surf foiling, we do not recommend
the Ease Series. Instead, select from the Glide Series:
- 725 – Fast, agile, but hard to get on foil; great for tow foiling or
advanced SUP/surf foilers - 925 – Ideal for tow-in foiling and surf foiling, plus an intermediate
option for SUP foiling - 1125 – Best pump-to-speed ratio for easy wave linking and foiling
in various conditions - 1325 – The beginner SUP foil wing, offering tons of low-end lift
and stability. A little big for tow foiling and Surf Foiling
Final Thoughts
With so many front wings to choose from, it all comes down to your sport,
skill level, and conditions. The Ease Series is perfect for beginners,
while the Glide Series offers high performance for experienced riders. And
for kite foilers, the Kite Series keeps things simple and efficient.
