Taking what we learned about High Tension wings from developing the SlingWing NXT, we were able to increase the balance, power, stability, and ease of use of the SlingWing V5 in comparison to the SlingWing V4. This revolutionary design enhances all elements of our flagship wing. Refinements in new materials, leading-edge shape, and our high-tension canopy profile make the SlingWing V5 more balanced and easier to fly. This wing excels across all performance metrics no matter how or where you use it. The SlingWing V5 comes with the new SlingGrip Uni Handle to maximize control and power delivery. Once trying the Uni Handle you will never ride a two-handle wing again.
True Tension Airframe Design
A strategically calculated taper from the center of the LE wing to the wing tips, the True Tension Airframe delivers our new revolutionary high-tension canopy medium-span wing design. Offering superior balance and handling with best- in-class flex characteristics. Stiff in the front and transitioning to softer at the wing tips, the TrueTaper Airframe keeps the first third of the canopy structure smooth and rigid for on-demand power while allowing wing tip twist-off in gusty conditions or flag out and surf with total control.
Code 95 P Trailing Edge
The Code 95 material is the strongest canopy material we have put in a wing. It was strategically placed along the trailing edge to prevent canopy blowout and help balance the SlingWing V5. You will notice a more direct response in power and a wing that free-flies effortlessly when gliding down a swell. In the event your foil hits this material, or the wing gets caught in the surf, the chances of a catastrophic failure are much lower.
SlingGrip Uni Handle
The SlingGrip Uni Handle is our new favorite way to hold the wing. Instead of two individual handles, the UNI Handle is one long handle that spans the entire wing. This means the rider can slide their hand back for more power, ride one handed, have more control and ease of use, and avoid the constant search for their handles when coming out of a tack or jibe.
FrameLITE Construction
Utilized throughout the SlingWing V5’s airframe, this high-tenacity polyester features biaxial gridding and extensive emulsion coating, eliminating stretch in all directions while providing a more balanced feel, better power control, and stable, effortless luffing while surfing. The stiffness of FrameLite’s unique 2x2 weave structure significantly reduces elongation of the airframe and increases multi-season durability. At 160 grams per square meter, FrameLite uncompromisingly offers the optimum balance of flex, strength, stiffness, and weight.
Tapered T-Grid Canopy Layout
The SlingWing V5 utilizes our new Tapered T-Grid canopy layout which strategically places seems in the paneling to prevent canopy stretch. It also eliminates catastrophic blowouts or rips if your foil goes through your wing or gets thrown up onto the beach in the surf.
Forward Windows
Our forward window concept gives the rider the ideal location to view obstacles downwind of them. With a tapered design towards the wing tips, stretch is averted while views are enhanced.
TPU Rigid LE Handle
Our new TPU Rigid LE Handle was designed to give the rider the most control over their wing by increasing the leverage they have. When in free-fly and changing directions while riding downwind, wings have a tendency to roll from side to side. With the TPU handle, the rider can prevent this before it starts, giving them a smoother ride and allowing them to focus on improving their other skills.
Reduced Dihedral Leading Edge
This gives you more surface area directly angled against the wind and self- balances the wing when in free fly for less oscillation in the roll.
VersaStrut Geometry
With its hybrid canted strut design, VersaStrut works in conjunction with HGrid Rigid Canopy Construction to control our high-tension canopy profile. It allows for less in-fill wall connection in the mid-section and direct strut-to-canopy connection toward the trailing edge. The canted forward section of the strut moves the wing further from the rider, which creates significant dampening and takes any slack out of rider input. Connecting the strut directly to the rear of the canopy yields a more direct and rapid response when pumping and distributing loads uniformly into the canopy.
