The music is half the battle of making any action sports edit. Some would argue it's more important than the footage itself, setting a mood and helping to create inspiration. Often times when we think back on wakeboarding films it's the music that stands out most and helps to jog the memory of what rider, what location, and what trick was going down. Life is undoubtedly better with music, and since we all seem to get stuck in our own mary go round playlists, we thought we could help inspire some new discoveries for you by asking our favorite athletes "what are you listening to".
Words from Maxx himself
"Anybody that watches ZUUPACK videos might know how important music is to me. Sound/hearing is one of the most defining senses, and music's always been the easiest way for me to get outta my head. It helps you figure out where you're at in time and space. It sets a mood that our minds can follow. And it sets the tone for the world; with the perfect tone (vibrations) you can find flow.
I spent some time thinking of the music that moves me the most, and built a playlist around 3 specific moments. The first few tracks are what I like to listen to when I build up hype on the way to the cable; The next few tracks are for feeling strong and limitless on the water, and then there's the cooldown on the way back home after the sesh. I like to mix sounds so the playlist jumps genre's from Alternative, to house music, to some 90's hip-hop, and there's even an Alan Watt's discussion remixed. Life changes so quickly and I think my music style is a reflection of that, being able to adapt to whatever life throws at ya, and still have a good time while doing it."
